Madame Claude Monet is a delicate art piece composed during a point in Renoir's and Monet's friendship when Pierre-Auguste Renoir paid frequent visits to the Monet household

The painting was composed in 1872 when Pierre-Auguste was approximately 31 years old. At this time in Renoir's life, the young painter has yet to hit fame and remained unknown. Currently, the art piece is owned by the Musee Marmottan Monet, an art gallery in Paris.

The piece of art is of Camille Doncieux, more popularly known as the French painter Claude Monet's first wife. He has also designed many other oil paintings with Camille Doncieux including the famous Portrait of Madame Claude Monet and Madame Monet Reading both from 1872. Camille grew up in France, had two children with Claude Monet and passed away in 1879 due to illness. This Madame Claude Monet portrait was painted only two years after Camille Doncieux married to Claude Monet.

Monet himself famously captured Camille Monet and a Child in the Artist's Garden in Argenteuil and Camille Monet on a Garden Bench.

The painting was done on canvas with oil paint. The exact dimensions are unknown, but it is speculated that the proportions are about 5:6.

The painting is of Camille Doncieux wearing a seemingly blacklist gray coat. She is sitting on a wooden chair with a warm brownish background behind her. It is speculated that the walls in the backdrop are supposed to be made of wood.

Unlike most of Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s works, Madame Claude Monet was unnotable for its vibrant light and saturated colors. This art piece featured dull warm colors, making it a unique piece of Renoir. The piece definitely featured an impressionism style, with broken brush-stroked and the fusion of many soft colors.

This artwork was composed during the point in time when Renoir was still good friends with Claude Monet where he inherited and shared his unique but famous techniques. In the specific piece of Madame Claude Monet, you can see the artist attempted to display youthfulness in the portrait, using specific painting techniques to display the specialized lighting and illusion of movement.

Conclusively, Madame Claude Monet is an art piece composed in 1872 by the famous artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The artwork was composed during a time period when Pierre was divine friends with Claude Monet and has still yet to become famous. The painting is an impressionist piece featuring warm colors, subdued lighting and the illusion of movement.
